What’s the best way of dealing with an obstacle? Is it to charge it head on? Overcome it through hard work and effort? Runaway from it? Avoid it?
What about a provocateur? Would it be best to obsess and be consumed by their conjectures? What is the best way of handling this type of person? If playing the game they created is futile, avoiding their instigations almost impossible. and entering a conflict least acceptable, how else then?
Applying this to the dealings of the mind, a common scenario where a myopic lens is focused on the shortcomings, imperfections and flaws of oneself, excludes all other aspects of the self.
The instigation formed in the mind by the provocateur we can call the ego or the infant is created out of nothing, baseless against any rationality or objectivity. When the emotions identified with these flaws and imperfections have become a habit it narrows the scope of attention to that small detail that darkens the wider visibility to one’s disposal.
Under these shallow conjectures and minor details, it is easy to go along with the familiar solution or pattern. However, it’s only easy to go along with something when it’s not questioned. Just a little curiosity has the potency to unravel the baseless narrative/thought. What is the function of this thought/imperfection? Why is it that suddenly I am brought to the attention of this problem out of nowhere? If I wasn’t concerned or aware about it before, why now?
To ask the question why, is to indirectly ask the question of how?
The question why is empty and does not produce any answer with substance. And so, the fundamental question is instead how or what. How did this thought and perceived flaw enter my mind? How is it that my mind jumped to this conclusion? What is trying to convince me that this flaw is important?
When detachment of thought is made and identification of the instigator/provocateur is realized, it’s obvious the statement being made is not true. The familiar pattern associated with imperfection is to conceal it or work against it, however that very mode of action is what sustains its existence of power.
Relieve the very thought of imperfection of its excess importance, without meaning. When imperfection is given too much importance it vacates the sense of connection to a higher source.
The attention given to a minor detail is what separates our connection to the original source. To strip the threat or belief of its importance is to not identify with it and to remember one’s true essence.
When you remember who and what you are, you claim the right ot choose what defines you, what your purpose was meant to be, knowing that what is truly yours cannot be taken from you.
If what is truly yours cannot be taken away and that regardless of whatever minor detail you come across along the road it doesn’t have an effect; then you can wave it goodbye on passing by. Because whatever the minor detail is, it doesn’t change who you are and it doesn’t change what your here for.
Pertaining to the mind, the next time a minor detail or provocateur is passed by along the way, anticipate it’s intentions and view them as guiding signs, markers of mental state, symbols of health. It can be beneficial to view things this way, as a person sensitive to patterns and symbols I find these instigators to have innocent intentions embedded at the root.
Someone that is sensitive to the signs of the body and the symbols of the mind has the potential dexterity and resilience to react accordingly in a positive manner. Ultimately the purpose and function of imperfection and flaws are to mark the limits of ones comfort zone.
The point of imperfection is to reinforce one’s comfort zone and to limit ones awareness of themselves, often responsible for wasting time, sustaining inaction, feeding addiction and more.
Building sensitivity to these signs means increasing the alertness and responsiveness of the moment it is noticed, making remembering a habit, reverting back to the resting position of objectivity and detachment. Sensitivity to one’s shortcomings can be a positive thing when self-acceptance has been established, awareness of comfort zone realized, and the goal or mission aligned.
Awareness is unimpactful solely on its own. Remembering has to become a habit and a way of life. I refer to this as modus vivendi.
The etymology of this phrase states: “mode of living,” especially a working agreement between contending parties, 1844, Latin, literally “way of living or getting along”.
I want to give special attention to “getting along” and “agreement between contending parties”. Healing from an illness often comes with resistance and conflict and so, the collection of symptoms I regularly experience, are itching, picking, sensitivity, pain and more.
Illness is merely a representation or manifestation of mind and body disharmony. Once again as someone that faces these regularities, I don’t see it as a fluke or a dysfunction but as an opportunity.
Everything in the mind and body has a function and a purpose of doing things. When it comes to bodily symptoms I view it as a means of purifying and remolding the mind and heart into a more sound and healthy integration. Each wave of itch, pain or sensitivity is a reminder of this transition and reinforces the incentive and demand to reintegrate that suffering into positive outlets.
Illness can be a wise teacher, if one were to listen to it. It can even be a healing companion, with it’s own language, style of communication and independent intentions. If healing is the goal and Illness is the process, the only way to move through it is to integrate it into one’s arsenal.
It’s worth reminding, symptoms identify one’s level of comfort, the measure of its size. The magnitude of pressure that comes with remodeling enables the possibility for change. Another way of saying this is eustress has beneficial properties that can stimulate one’s vitality, it’s also a reason for living.
Every time I’m reminded through pain it’s a recalibration signal to direct energy towards positive outlets that being exercise, writing or any other method.
The main point I want to instill is that in order to be healed, one must first become that which is already healed; to self-identify as the version of oneself that is capable of wielding authority of their own life.
It has to be more than just something that’s done every now and then, it is literally a way of doing things, a way of living. Remembering, pattern recognition, and objectivity have to be a habit that’s engrained through constant practice. Every setback, every pain point is an opportunity and repetition to transmute into skill acquisition.
The moment a provocateur is encountered, awareness has to be present and quickly followed by action, whether through journaling or writing. There has to be a level of dexterity and responsiveness to these interactions executing with the vitality and focus that the moment demands.
With every repetition this is done, a quicker reaction time is installed, a deeper focus and ability to write is learned. How then can a person who’s way of life is to improve their awareness and to strengthen their health not be worthy of such a remedy?
